My Booking

Food is important to us here at Hillcrest and we pride ourselves on the quality of our food. Whether that's breakfast or dinner we do our best to offer you choice and quality.

All our meat, including our bacon, sausages and haggis come from our Award Winning butcher in Newton Stewart, who shares our passion for Scottish produce. Kenny and the team are as committed to the quality of their product today as Kenny's grandfather was when he started the business back in 1925. http://www.johndowenandson.co.uk.. The haggis and sausages are both made on the premises, his meat is traditionally hung and sourced from local farms. Our eggs are delivered direct from the farm and our smoked salmon comes from either the Galloway Smokehouse or Marrbury - depending on what we are using it for, as the two taste very different!

As well as our cooked menu - you will also find fruit juices, a selection of cereals, dried fruit and nuts, fresh fruit, yoghurts from local Rowan Glen and natural Greek yoghurt on the sideboard. Plenty of toast, Fairtrade tea or Organic Fairtrade Coffee set you up for the day ahead.

Most evenings at 7pm we offer a hearty 3-course dinner with Scottish beef, Salmon, Chicken and such seasonal specialities as Salt Marsh Lamb featuring regularly. Cooked from scratch - we use the best seasonal produce available and tailor our menus around your specific dietary requirements or dislikes. We can easily cater for vegetarians, vegans, those requiring a dairy free diet and those suffering with coeliac disease. Just be sure to book is advance - as we only cook for those guest who do and we cannot accommodate any requests for dinner on arrival. Please note we do not offer dinner on Sunday and, although we don't like letting our guests down, as there are only two of us here, there may be other occasions we cannot offer evening meals.

You won't find strawberries in December, but you will find a substantial, home cooked meal - with focus on seasonality and local produce.

A sample menu is below - but remember this changes regularly and is a set 2 or 3-course meal - you tell us if there is anything you can't or don't eat and we plan a menu around that.
