Thank you for visiting our website and we - Andrew & Deborah look forward to welcoming you to Hillcrest, Wigtown - Scotlands Booktown and sharing our corner of Galloway with you.
Hillcrest is set on the southern edge of town overlooking Wigtown Bay & the Solway Firth. Built in 1875 as a private house, it is an imposing Victorian villa that retains many original features, which we have sympathetically brought up to date to provide all the modern facilities expected by our guests, whilst retaining the charm and character of the house. All six of our rooms have ensuite facilities, hospitality tray featuring a great range of Fairtrade products, LCD TV, digital radio alarm clock, hairdryer & lovely bathroom essentials from Pure Lakes. We offer free wi-fi throughout the house, lockable bike storage & plenty of onsite parking. All rooms bar Moray are pet friendly (please see our Pets page for more details on our policy)
Whether you are taking a break to drive along the South West Coastal 300, or stargaze in our Dark Sky Park, bird-watch (several of our rooms look directly towards RSPB Baldoon), walk, cycle, wander along a deserted beach, visit gardens like Threave, Castle Kennedy or Logan, roll down a hill in a giant ball or fly down a 820m zip wire, enjoy a round of golf at one of the 20 odd courses within a one hour drive, fish, or just relax and mooch round Wigtown's many bookshops, stay with us, eat with us, and share with us the beauty of Dumfries and Galloway.
